Where Hath All the People Gone?

By Lady Raist

Yes, I know. We missed last month's update. It's not our fault. I swear. Remember that power outage that hit the north eastern US states and Canada? Oh. August you say? Well what about that hurricane Isabel? That one rocked our socks off! Really? Just a tropical storm? Well bugger me that. Do we have any excuse for missing September?

Hmmm... guess not. Oh well. Guess you blokes are gonna have to live with it eh?

What's interesting is that not only was there a lull in the Underground (which really was caused by mass panic and confusion over real life catching up to the Raistlins who literally got caught with their robes down), but there's been quite a lull in the various online communities. Posts have been popping up by bewildered fans, wondering if the rest of the world have turned into wandering kender and loudly proclaiming the general suckiness of activity. Well I, Lady Raist, have the answer to what happened to the fans!

I locked them all in my dungeon.

No, seriously. They're all down there. I'm pumping in the top ten worst Dragonlance novels, read by Gilbert Godfrey, as they sit chained together in locks, stocks, and maidens, praising my glory and beauty.

Darn it. Why doesn't anyone believe me today??

Well I guess I'll just have to give shameless plugs then for the various online communities out there. Maybe you'll believe me then. We, the Raistlins, don't gain any benefit of advertising these places, but we figure it might get everyone else all happy and jolly about Dragonlance. And the more people that are posting and writing about Krynn, the more material we have to make fun of.

(Of course you know we have a selfish interest in this! If we didn't, we wouldn't be Raistlins!)

On to the communities!

Of course, we have to place our message board at the top of the list. We're a little lax in the brain matter and the rules, and we prefer to have fun on our board. Interact with the Raistlins (most of us are there threatening newbies and trolling the regulars), post to our role playing section (where anything goes as long as you're a character), or just write what you want!

The official Dragonlance mailing list is run by Wizards of the Coast and has many an author wandering by. Of course it's moderated and off topic posts aren't common. It can be fun at times and flame wars erupt. They're quickly quenched by Ed "The Man".

And who can forget the wild and insane world of newsgroups? alt.fan.dragonlance has been around long before time could remember, and is filled with raging dinos, old comfy chairs, and decaying newbie remains. Alright, I'm exagerating again. Most of the dinos are sleeping, the chairs are moldy and stink, and newbies run rampant. But afdl is home of the "Raistlin is a woman" theory, and there's still some spark in those dinos (when they wander by). You can find afdl in google or from your Internet provider's news server. And we're not tech support, so don't ask us how to get a news server. You figure that one out for yourself.

For everything Dragonlance, there's Dragonlance.com. Who would've thunk that someone would register such a name? There's a page full of various types of communities, but apparently there's also a rip roaring message board there.

Wizards of the Coast couldn't be happy with just a mailing list. They had to jump onto the message board bandwagon too.

And last but not least, Roaring Studios deserves a mention. They're the creators of the "Legend of Huma" comic that's due out sometime in the future. They have a message board with a pile of topics, including Dragonlance. We also have them posting in our forum with some sample art from the comic. Check out their board and give them encouragement for coming up with something that looks far better than some of those silly Dragonlance comics we've all seen in the past!
