Unofficial and Proud
With all the festering arguments over who gets to be the official site, be it DL3e.com, Tracy Hickman's Dragonlance Nexus, the Weldon/Clogar/Grubber consortium, or some hybrid strain of the above ideas, we at Dragonlance Underground have been watching from the sidelines and trying to stay fairly quiet. All I can say is this: thank God no one's nominated us.
It's an entertaining thought, having an official site named "Dragonlance Underground," but it just wouldn't fly. 'We's likes our fan fiction, and we's aims to keeps it, ya hear?' Besides, who wants to be an official site?
Okay, besides DL3e.com.
'Official' isn't all it's cracked up to be. After all, President Clinton was an elected 'official,' and his reputation floundered in the public eye. Adultery is sadly so commonplace in the United States, that no one even bats an eye, but an 'official' adulterer is instant scandal.
And just where does the word 'official' come from? It's an adjective, derived from the root noun 'office.' It means, literally, "office-related" or perhaps "from the office." Well, we all know what comes from the office. Work. So perhaps 'official' is just a nice way of saying "A whole lot of work." Count me out.
And look at the pronunciation [o fish yul]. Remove that last sylllable and what do you have? "Oafish." Not something I'd want to be called. No sir.
That's why Dragonlance Underground is happy to be Unofficial. We can offer anything an official site can offer, and more. Unofficial may not be as impressive-sounding as Official, but with it comes a sense of freedom no official site could ever have. We're Unofficial and proud.
We're so proud, in fact, that we've created a little badge of honor for our site and all unofficial sites:
We offer this graphic to any Dragonlance site that wishes to proclaim that itself "Unofficial and Proud." To use it, simply right click the image above, save it to your hard disk and add it to your page in your next update.

Those are the rules. You can put the graphic anywhere you like, but we hope you feature your Unofficial Pride prominently! Let the Dragonlance community know that Unofficial isn't a dirty word. Display it with pride!
