Canticle of the Dino

By Raist666

Out of the mailing list,
out of the cries for a new site,
in the blank face of Wizards' management,
a fury flared in afdl.
Dinos of rage and of power
called down the gods themselves
and demanded explanation, for Wizards killing the souls
of Dragonlance fans, by cutting 3rd Edition products
set on the beloved lands of Krynn.

Paladin, God of DL.com,
shone amidst the chaos,
strengthening the dominion of his site,
and Despair, gripping the others,
demolished the Whitestone Council,
banished the other competing sites
back to web obscurity, where their protests
fell upon lead hearts and deaf ears
of Wizards' official-site stand.

Thus ended in thunder the Age of Dreams
and began the Age of Might,
when large sites arose and positioned themselves,
ruled over the weak,
aspiring to official-site glory,
announcing the passing of small sites,
and DL3e.com, under the guise of the Whitestone Council,
shone like a doom-star
in the white skies of the just.

So in the brightness of this sun,
Waned the light of other stars;
Tracy Hickman's confederate Nexus,
Clogar's ILN and the site of John Grubber.
All searched and asked for 3e material,
for links, classes and spells,
so that they, too, could build the site, might find
their goals in their righteous aims
and win the favor of Jim.

So came the time of striving and death
as dinos fought over the world.
Mountains of email crashed through the list,
the fans split and eager to flame,
posts poured into afdl,
tired fans sighed as they again got to see
debates over Krynn erupting
and becoming topics to dread.

Thus begins the Age of Despair.
The roads are tangled.
Dinos become more and more bitter by the minute.
The guidelines are read carefully.
As small sites will lose their power,
dinos call to the the blank sky,
protesting, beseeching and questioning the gods.
Wizards is calm, silent, unmoving.
We have yet to hear their answer.
