Elections Across Ansalon
It's that time again. All across Ansalon, people in towns small and large are voting in their mayors, councilmen, and many other synonymously titled leaders.
In this article, we give you an overview of how some of these elections have gone and who some the individuals will be that will lead their locales into that great realm known as The Future.
In the draconian nation of Teyr, tempers flared over whether unmated draconian males should have the right to vote in the national elections. The unmated males feel this is unfair, since there are still only a limited number of females for their species, and nobody is willing to share. However, the only item to vote upon this time around was the governorship of Teyr. This was, in the end, a moot point - Kang ran unopposed.
In Hylo, the kender also voted for the leadership of the kender nation. In a fit of typical kender brilliance, it was decided that twigs of varying lengths would be used to make the votes. The results were hotly contested. Recounts were ordered. Unfortunately, the mass number of "semi-broken" twigs and "stripped" twigs caused the entire results to be thrown out. In the end, a kender from the semi-permanent population by the name of Raz Knotslip was chosen at random to lead Hylo. After his swearing in ceremony, he promptly left on Wanderlust.
For the gnomes of Mt. Nevermind, a number of Committees sought new leadership. One group, the Committee for the Advancement of Insane Red Dragons, decided to settle leadership with a game of Gnomish Flumpett. The results of this election may be in by the time the next elections roll around.
In Solace, Palin was re-elected Mayor of this fast growing Abanasinian community. Nobody cared.
The biggest news came from the island of Sancrist, where two rival knights seeking the position of Grand Master are locked in a tight race. Grim Dunderhead, of the Modernists faction, and Whelp Wibbler, of the Traditionalists faction, are both vying for the coveted position.
The Modernists positions are as follows:
Revise the Measure… again Consider allowing non-humans to become Knights Avoid war with the Knights of Neraka unless they attack us
The Traditionalists positions are as follows:
Don't revise the Measure that much Don't allow some non-humans into the Knighthood Threaten to kill all Knights of Neraka, even if they don't attack us
Many people question whether either candidate is qualified enough for the job. Most just question what the hell kind of names are Grim and Whelp. Regardless of who wins, all the Knights are expected to crawl into a corner and whimper softly to themselves at their misfortune.
This will definitely be an election season to remember!
