Gen Con Events We'd Like to See But Probably Never Will
THE INN OF THE LAST HOME - THURSDAY 10 PM
DL fans will gather at the revolving restaurant at the top of the Hyatt. After the drinking contests and drunken singing of DL songs, the highlight of the evening will be having everyone "go out by the kitchen"! A rope will be strung out of the restaurant that hangs down to ground level. All will be required to shimmy down the rope or use their own versions of Featherfall.
RAISTLIN MUD WRESTLIN' - ALL DAY FRIDAY
There can be only one. All contestants must be in Raistlin costume. All Gen Con attendees in Raistlin costume must be in this event (even if dragged in screaming). A mud pool will be created outside the convention center, into which all the Gen Con Raistlins will be thrown. Only one live Raistlin will be allowed to exit. Other than this there are no rules.
THE DRAGONLANCE BEAT-THE-AUTHORS RECEPTION - FRIDAY 8:00 PM
Where DL fans can gather and have the DL authors introduced to them, after which they get to vent their frustrations on the authors for unpopular things like character deaths, character revivals, retcons, inconsistencies, more cataclysms and bad writing.
DRAGONLANCE KILL-HER BREAKFAST WITH TRACY HICKMAN - SATURDAY 8 AM
Tracy Hickman will take on all gamers, one after another. The goal for all of them is the same...you have but split seconds to describe how to kill Goldmoon. If your blow is deemed successful enough, you get to describe another move. If not, her faithful bodyguards kill you. Lasting even 5 seconds in Kill-Her Breakfast is a feat only a few can accomplish!
THE ANNUAL DRAGONLANCE UNDERGROUND - DRAGONLANCE.COM RUGBY TOURNAMENT - SATURDAY 2 PM
In the interest of promoting good sportsmanship and fair play in the Dragonlance community, the Raistlins of DLU and the Editors of
Dragonlance.com face off in a bone-crunching match of rugby. While some might misconstrue this as a show of petty oneupmanship, be assured that it really doesn't matter who wins or loses, but that the teams have fun and show off their fan spirit. (NOTE: In order to maintain their anonymous identities, the Raistlins of Dragonlance Underground will be represented by the Australian rugby team, the St. George Dragons)
THONGS OF THE SAGA - SATURDAY 9:00 PM
Dragonlance artist Clyde Caldwell introduces his fall line-up of designer clothes inspired by the Dragonlance Series. Whether you're looking for the perfect Chainmail halter top to go with that leather miniskirt or a sumptuous gossamer evening gown that will turn every half-elf's head, you're sure to find something in this revealing collection of outfits. Featuring the the modeling talents of Tracy Hickman, Richard Knaak, Don Perrin, Jeff Grubb, and Steve Miller.
KLEPTO KENDER SUNDAY - SUNDAY 9 AM
Grab your hoopak and don your pouches for a Dragonlance LARP like you've never seen before. 100 players will be released into the dealers room to do what kender do best. Awards will be given for Best Kender Costume, Most Annoying Kender, Best Taunt Uttered While Fleeing Angry Security Guards. Bonus Points will be awarded to players that come away with truly unique items like the Dragonlance Atlas or Tracy Hickman's pants.
AUDIENCE WITH TAKHISIS - SUNDAY 12 NOON
The scene at the end of Dragons of Spring Dawning in Neraka is recreated. All event attendees will assemble in the scheduled event hall, over which Tanis Half-Eleven (Tracy Hickman) and Kitiara (Margaret Weis) will preside. DL Fans will watch Tanis spurn Kitiara and put the Crown of Power on himself, after taking it from the head of the previous Head of DL department. Then Laurana (Laura Hickman) will shove Tanis so that the Crown of Power falls into the audience, and a massive free for all for the Crown of Power will begin! Whoever has the Crown of Power at the end of the event will get to tell DL authors/artists/designers/editors what to do for a year - until the next Gen Con!
