Tavin's Christmas Nugget of Joy 12-24-01

By Tavin Springfingers

Greetings all ye merry DragonLancers out there! (Oh, and all you mean ol' bitter Dinos too!) The snow is falling, the presents are bought, and everyone's ready to tip back a bit of eggnog for the holidays. That can mean, of course, only one thing for yours truly.

It's time for a Christmas Nugget of Joy!

Today on Krynn:

NEXT TIME SPIN THE BOTTLE:
Our top story today, Silvanesti has declared war on the nation of Nordmaar. Negotiations on possible trade agreements were suddenly cut short as one of the ambassadors from Nordmaar kissed the Silvanesti ambassadors sister quite suddenly and apparently unprovoked. According to the Nordmaar ambassador he was only being civil and following an old Yule custom. The Silvanesti ambassador however was outraged and refuses to stand the elven nation's army down until proof can be brought forth of this so called custom regarding the plant 'mistletoe'.

LOOK AT FROSTY GO:
The goblin invasion force of Throt has a new and terrifying tactic. According to several reports, a Solomnic outpost fell to what is described as 'a flurry of heavily armed snowmen'. It is hereby assumed that the goblins new tactic is that two goblins, both heavily armed, pack themselves into a snowman for cover. Then, using the snowman disguise, they sneak to within ambushing range of the target. As not much else is known, it is advised that all people who find a snowman beat it until it is obliterated. It is also advised that if you plan on making a snowman that you stop, for locals may view you as a traitor.

'Oops... Oops.. Oops..'-
A large draconian attack force was stopped today as a sudden avalanche from a nearby mountain swallowed them up before they could make a surprise attack. Was it an act of nature? As truth tells, the answer is even more interesting. As it turns out, the avalanche was caused by two kender: Kelwin Thumperbump and Olin Danderpuff. The two curious little kender had been travelling through the Almin mountains north of town. it seems that their destination was Echo Gorge, well known for it's incredibly loud and resounding echoes. Locals had put up a sign stating not to make any loud noises, for doing so could cause a massive avalanche down the mountain. While it is true that the draconian force was destroyed, a third of the town was also buried in the snow slide. The town council is currently debating whether or not to hold a ceremony for the two kenderkin as heroes, or to hunt them down and kill them.

That is all for Today on Krynn.
